The new appointee assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming unveiling last autumn.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure notified team members about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had indicated the need for a distinct game identity.

The president noted that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed approach, aiming to better meet community desires.

Trend of Strategic Hires

This announcement follows a similar step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock development group.

Here is the entire content from Ismailer's communication:

Team—

I know you all just wrapped up your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a note, I expressed the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and creative designers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re excited for that relationship to endure.”

With your dedication and versatility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.

The player input from last autumn’s the game demo was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer brand.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the feedback to mind and revamped the title with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its potential to our fans.

The belief in this project increases every day. To advance the outstanding development you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the latest Director of the team. Following a period of talks, he comes aboard us on the specified date.

His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter genre is extensive, having dedicated the last 15 years producing and leading some of the most well-known titles in gaming, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

Please join me in receiving Ben next week. We are all eager to persist seeing the development of Project ETHOS in the months to ahead.

The President

Background of the New Head

The appointee presently serves in the role of executive producer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier was employed at major gaming companies in diverse production roles on the Call of Duty games, and, prior to that, had periods at other industry leaders.

Game Information and Concept

Project Ethos was revealed in last year together with a community playtest. Initially, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "no-cost, 3rd-person roguelike hero shooter and an innovative evolution on the genre."

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the description states. "Take on the opponents with fresh skills, risks, and obstacles that shift every session. Do you safely extract with your collected items? Alternatively go big, risk it all, and hope your squad can earn top ranking? The choice is up to you."

Project Ethos lacks an official debut schedule or supported systems, but fans can look forward to further news as development advances.
